Upgrading and beautifying tasks in Yangon discussed

YANGON, 25 Feb—Lt-Gen Myint Swe of the Ministry of Defence attended the meeting 3/2009 of Leading Committee for Beautifying and Upgrading Yangon at the hall of Yangon City Development Committee, here, this afternoon. Speaking on the occasion, Lt-Gen Myint Swe said that it is necessary to upgrade and beautify Yangon in accord with the town characters.
He urged local authorities, departmental officials, organizations and people to join hands with the staff of YCDC in keeping Yangon lush and green. Chairman of Yangon Division Peace and Development Council Commander of Yangon Command Brig-Gen Win Myint reported on construction of bus stops in satellite towns of Yangon, supervision for use of bus stops for the convenience of passengers, undertaking of systematic garbage disposal system in summer and dredging of main drains in Yangon before the rainy season.
Mayor Brig-Gen Aung Thein Lin presented the reports on upgrading of traffic lights, drawing of traffic signs, carrying out of sanitation at drains and arrangements for supply of water to the suburban areas. Chairmen and officials of work committees submitted the reports on their respective sectors.After giving necessary instructions, Lt-Gen Myint Swe fulfilled the requirements.
