Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council Senior General Than Shwe and wife Senior General Than Shwe, wife Daw Kyaing Kyaing host Union Day commemorative reception and dinner Daw Kyaing Kyaing were welcomed at City Hall Square by Vice-Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council Vice- Senior General Maung Aye, Member of the SPDC General Thura Shwe Mann, Prime Minister General Thein Sein, Chairman of Central Committee for Observance of the 62nd Anniversary Union Day Secretary-1 of the SPDC Lt-Gen Thiha Thura Tin Aung Myint Oo, Chairman of Management Committee for Observance of the 62nd Anniversary Union Day Commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command Maj- Gen Wai Lwin and officials.
Next, Senior General Than Shwe and party greeted Union Day delegates from states and divisions, national race cultural troupes, members of social organizations and special guests. Before and during the dinner, national races and vocalists to the accompaniment of Myanma Athan modern music troupe presented music and songs to the guests.
After the dinner, gold medalists of Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competitions, national race cultural troupes of Kachin, Kayah, Kayin,Chin, Mon, Rakhine, Shan States and Taninthayi Division and artistes of Fine Arts Department of the Ministry of Culture entertained those present with dances at open air theatre of Nay Pyi Taw City Hall.
