Maintenance of Waingmaw-Chiphwe road, Chiphwenge hydropower plant project inspected


NAY PYI TAW, 26 Feb —Maj-Gen Ohn Myint of the Ministry of Defence, accompanied by Chairman of Kachin State Peace and Development Council Commander of Northern Command Brig-Gen Soe Win and departmental
officials, looked into progress in cleaning and beautifying of Myitkyina in a motorcade on 19 February. Next, he inspected maintenance of Bala Min Htin Bridge across Ayeyawady River and Washaung concrete bridge in Waingmaw Township and greeted local people. At Mile Post No (18/ 4) near Lower Namawyan village, Maj-Gen Ohn Myint oversaw road works and gave necessary instructions. Then he heard reports presented by teachers at Mandaung village Basic Education Post-Primary School in the township and attended to the needs. He
also greeted students and presented cash assistance and gifts. Afterwards, Maj-Gen Ohn Myint looked into
maintenance of 59-mile long suspension bridge in the township. Maj-Gen Ohn Myint proceeded to worksite of
Chiphwenge hydropower plant project being implemented by Hydropower Implementation Department
of the Ministry of Electric Power No.1 near Mile Post No (82) on Chiphwe-Panwah road, 11 miles south of Chiphwe and inspected No (6) approach tunnel. After hearing reports presented by officials at the briefing hall, Maj-Gen Ohn Myint asked about the requirements and called for timely completion of the project. Then he presented gifts to them and posed for a documentary photo. Next, Maj-Gen Ohn Myint and party looked
into Zan Naung Yan suspension bridge at the entrance to Chiphwe. In the evening, Maj- Gen Ohn Myint attended the 2nd Aungbam Manau Festival held on the beach of Maykha river near Zan Naung Yan village in
Chiphwe and met with national race leaders of Kachin Special Region (1) and (2). He cordially greeted national races at the festival.
