Seventh Plenary Meeting of Sixth 47-member State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee commences

YANGON, 25 Feb—The Seventh Plenary Meeting of the Sixth 47-member State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee of the Union of Myanmar began on Kaba Aye Hill in Mayangon Township here this morning. Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Abbot of Maha Withutayama Monastery in Magway Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Abhidhaja Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotika Bhaddanta Kumara chaired the meeting, while Joint-Secretary of SSMNC Abbot of Kalaywatawya Monastery in Yangon Agga Maha Pandita Agga Maha Kammathana Cariya Dwipitaka Kovida Bhaddanta Jagarabhivamsa acted as MC. The meeting chairman delivered Saraniya Ovada Katha (counsel). Minister for Religious Affairs Brig-Gen Thura Myint Maung supplicated on religious affairs.
Joint-Secretary Agga Maha Pandita Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotikadhaja Bhaddanta Jotika Bhivamsa read out the report on work progress in the third term of the SSMNC (third branch); and members, on work progress sectorwise in the second term. At the afternoon session, SSMNC members passed resolutions on Vinaya (rules), Sasana, and academic matters. Daw Myint Myint Thein, Daw Khin Win Myint and sisters and family offered alms food to the attendee monks.
