Myanmar to scale up tourist arrivals

YANGON, 2 Sept—The Ministry of Hotels and Tourism held a coordination meeting at Inya Lake Hotel, here, on 31 August to hold talks to increase the arrivals of tourists.
Minister for Hotels and Tourism Maj-Gen Soe Naing delivered an introductory speech.
Deputy Minister Brig- Gen Aye Myint Kyu touched upon related points to be submitted to the meeting. Representatives from the Myanmar Hoteliers Association and the Myanmar Travels and Tour presented reports. Officials concerned from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Immigration and Population, and the Myanma Airways responded to the reports.
Responsible persons from the Tour Mandalay and the Myanmar Foreign and Local Tourism Industry and Marketing Committee gave accounts for increasing the arrivals of foreign tourists. Officials from the ministries assessed the submissions.
The minister reviewed the discussions of the representatives and tourist guides from Bagan, Mandalay and Inlay hotel zones.
