Work in storm-hit regions inspected

NAY PYI TAW, 7 July —Maj-Gen Ko Ko of the Ministry of Defence on 5 July met local authorities, social organization members and residents in Maubin, Ayeyawady Division. Maubin District Peace and Development Council Chairman U Htay Win reported on cultivation of monsoon paddy and crops, sufficiency of edible oil and rice in the region and measures being taken for education and health sectors. Maj-Gen Ko Ko called for working hard to develop economic and social conditions in Maubin district. In Kyaiklat, where he was welcomed by Minister for Hotels and Tourism Maj-Gen Soe Naing and departmental heads, he met with departmental staff and townselders. U Kyaw Htin, Chairman of Kyaiklat Township PDC gave a
presentation on economic and social work in the township. Maj-Gen Ko Ko urged officials to participate in construction tasks being carried out in storm-hit areas. He inspected progress of rehabilitation tasks in the township. So far, Kyaiklat Township has had 32,037 acres under monsoon paddy and the remaining acres will be undermonsoon paddy. Maj-Gen Ko Ko, the
minister and party held a discussion with departmental staff and local residents in Pyapon.
Their discussion focused on monsoon paddy and crop cultivation and fishery sectors. Maj-Gen
Ko Ko called for active participation of local residents in rehabilitation tasks. Later, they inspected boat building and fishing gear at Boat Building Camp of the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries in Ayeyawady Division.
