MPT realizing better telecommunications in storm-hit Ayeyawady and Yangon Divisions

Furthermore, efforts were made for ensuring smooth communications in Ayeyawady Division ith added momentum. New camps for Vehicle mounted CDMA 450 were urgently opened at three places such as Bogale, Myaungmya and Ngapudaw to be able to contribute much to carrying out the relief work. In the areas where Vehicle mounted CDMA 450 could not be used, mobile satellite telephones and MPT Satellite Terminals were installed for emergency communications.
The Tatmadaw fiber linkage was connected among Hinthada, Zalun, Ingapu, Thayawady and
Taikkyi on Yangon-Mandalay linkage via Pyay. As the Yangon-Point 49 (Kungyangon) linkage was reopened on 4 May 2008, the communication system could be restored in Kawhmu, Kungyangon and Dedaye and their surrounding areas. On 5 May, repair of the Mayangon-Htaukkyant- Mingaladon fiber linkage and the Htaukkyant- Taikkyi microwave linkage were completed. Hence, the communication condition of the Yangon -Mandalay microwave linkage
recovered. Due to restoring the Bahan - Thanlyin fiber linkage, the communication system
could be restored in Thanlyin on 6 May. The Thanlyin -Kayan - Thongwa microwave linkage was repaired on 6 May for resumption of the communications facilities in these townships. In
Kayan, Vehicle mounted CDMA 450 was opened for enabling the local people to enjoy communication facilities. Kyonmange - Bogale new digital microwave linkage was launched on
6 May. By opening Vehicle mounted CDMA 450 in Bogale, the surrounding areas of Bogale-Mawlamyinegyun regions were provided with better communication facilities. On 13 May, the 62-metre Labutta tower was broken down on Pathein- Ngapudaw-Labutta-Hainggyi microwave
linkage. To restore the communication system, the Pathein-Ngapudaw-Hainggyi direct microwave linkage was opened. In Hainggyikyun and its environs, the communication facilities
were restored with the use of Vehicle mounted CDMA 450 telephones. On 16 May, Twantay
was provided with communications facilities as usual by repairing the Yangon-Twantay microwave linkage. Likewise, the Hlegu-Indaing fiber linkage was repaired. For ensuring good
conditions of communication system in Labutta and its surrounding areas, the Labutta-Hainggyikyun linkage was reopened.
