Mon State observes 61st Anniversary Independence Day 2009

The ceremony of 61st Anniversary Independence Day 2009 was held in Mawyawady Park of Mawlamyine , Mon State on 4 January, attended by Chairman of Mon State Peace and Development Council Commander of South-East Command Maj-Gen Thet Naing Win,Secretary U Khin Maung Tun and members,departmental heads at state level, national races,members of social organizations and guests.First, the State flag hoisting ceremony was held and then the ceremony of saluting the State flag continued.Next, the commander read out the message sent by Chairman of State Peace and Development Council Senior General Than Shwe and the ceremony brought to an end.Afterwards, the commander made a speech at the ceremony of presenting prizes held at State Hall in Mawlamyine.Next, the commander presented prizes to those who had won medals for outstanding performance in social field (first class),the secretary, those who had won medals for outstanding performance in social field (third class), Member (1) of Mon State PDC Commander of Mon State Police Force Police Col Tin Maung Maung, those who had won medals for all-round subjects,Member (2) of Mon State PDC U Htay Aung, those who had won in essay competitions at university, high school and middle school levels.Afterwards, prizes were presented to winners in poem and sports skills contests by officials and the commander and party viewed commemorative booths marking the 61st Anniversary Independence
Day.
