Deputy Foreign Minister attends fifth Meeting of ASEAN Humanitarian Task Force (AHTF) for victims of Cyclone Nargis


At the invitation of the ASEAN Secretary General Dr Surin Pitsuwan, Myanmar delegation led by Chairman of Tripartite Core Group(TCG) Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs U Kyaw Thu left here for Bangkok, Thailand to participate in the Coordinating Meeting and Fifth Meeting of the ASEAN Humanitarian Task Force (AHTF) for the victims of Cyclone Nargis to be held in Bangkok from 16 to 17 January.Deputy Minister U Kyaw Thu and delegation member participated in the Coordinating Meeting for the Fifth Meeting of the ASEAN Humanitarian Task Force (AHTF) for the victims of Cyclone Nargis at Amari Water Gate Hotel on 16 January.The deputy minister attended the Fifth Meeting of the ASEAN Humanitarian Task Force (AHTF) for the victims of Cyclone Nargis at the same venue on 17 January and presented report of the Tripartite Core Group (TCG). The participants also discussed the outcome of the TCG high level roundtable on post-Nargis relief and recovery efforts in Myanmar.The deputy minister and delegation members—Deputy Director-General U Than Aye of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation and Deputy Director Daw Kyawt Kyawt Khaing of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs—also arrived back on the same flight.
