Hsintet, Pyawtywa river water pumping stations to irrigate 11,500 acres in Sagaing Division

Chairman of Sagaing Division Peace and Development Council Commander
of North-West Command Maj-Gen Myint Soe on 20 April arrived at Hsintet river water pumping project near Hsintet Village in Sagaing Township.At the briefing hall, project in-charge Assistant Director U Khin Latt and officials reported on completion of the project and cultivation of summer paddy for 2008-2009 cultivation season. After hearing the reports, the commander gave instructions on growing of summer paddy meeting the target and inspected supply of water to summer paddy fields from
the river water pumping station.Next, the commander went to Pyawtywa river water pumping project near Pyawtywa Village in Myinmu Township. At the briefing hall, officials briefed the commander on progress of the project. The commander gave instructions on implementation of the project as soon as possible and rice sufficiency in Sagaing District. After looking into the project, the commander attended to the needs.On completion, Hsintet river water pumping project will irrigate 6,500 acres of farmlands and Pyawtywa river water pumping project, 5,000 acres of farmlands all the year round. Now, Hsintet river water pumping project supplies water to 540 acres of summer paddy and Pyawtywa river water pumping project, 500 acres of summer paddy plantation.
