MWVO shares organizing skills

YANGON, 2 Sept— An advanced-level organizing course (15/2008) of Myanmar War Veterans
Organization was opened at war veterans training school in Nyaunghnapin camp in Hmawby
Township, Yangon Division yesterday morning.
Member of Central Organizing Committee of MWVO Vice-Chairman of Yangon City Development Committee Vice-Mayor Col Maung Pa delivered a speech. Similarly, advancedlevel organizing courses (15/ 2008) were opened at war veterans training schools in Mandalay and Magway Divisions. The four-week course is being attended by 50 trainees each.

New school building for Mahaaungmyay Township

NAY PYI TAW, 2 Sept— Chairman of Mandalay Division Peace and Development Council Commander of Central Command Brig- Gen Tin Ngwe looked into the construction of new
building of No. 34 Basic Education Primary Schoolat Thanlyathmaw west ward in Mahaaungmyay Township, Mandalay Division on 28 August. The new school building measures 90 feet long and 30 feet wide. It is one-storey building with three classrooms and 95 percent have completed. A total of 1,060 students are learning at the school.

Myanmar to scale up tourist arrivals

YANGON, 2 Sept—The Ministry of Hotels and Tourism held a coordination meeting at Inya Lake Hotel, here, on 31 August to hold talks to increase the arrivals of tourists.

Minister for Hotels and Tourism Maj-Gen Soe Naing delivered an introductory speech.
Deputy Minister Brig- Gen Aye Myint Kyu touched upon related points to be submitted to the meeting. Representatives from the Myanmar Hoteliers Association and the Myanmar Travels and Tour presented reports. Officials concerned from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Immigration and Population, and the Myanma Airways responded to the reports.
Responsible persons from the Tour Mandalay and the Myanmar Foreign and Local Tourism Industry and Marketing Committee gave accounts for increasing the arrivals of foreign tourists. Officials from the ministries assessed the submissions.
The minister reviewed the discussions of the representatives and tourist guides from Bagan, Mandalay and Inlay hotel zones.

Yangon Div opens Performing Arts Competitions

YANGON, 2 Sept—The opening ceremony of the 16th Myanmar Cultural Performing Arts Competitions of Yangon Division was held at Myanyilar hall of No.2 Basic Education High School of Latha Township yesterday morning. It was attended by Chairman of Yangon Division Peace and Development Council Commander of Yangon Command Brig-Gen Win Myint and wife Daw Kyin Myaing .
At the ceremony, Commander Brig-Gen Win Yangon Div opens Performing Arts Competitions Myint cut the ribbon to open the contest and delivered a speech.
Afterwards, the artistes entertained with songs and dances.The Commander and wife presented a flower basket and cash awards to the artistes and the ceremony was ended.
A total of 398 artistes—144 in amateur level (first class) and 254 in amateur level (second class) —took part in the competitions.

Mon beats Taninthayi in ISD U-15 Football Tournament opener

NAY PYI TAW, 31 Aug— A ceremony to honour athletes who are to take part in the 13th Inter
State and Division U- 15 Football Tournament was held at the Mon State Hall in Mawlamyine, Mon State yesterday morning.
Chairman of Mon State Peace and Development Council Commander of South-East Command
Maj-Gen Thet Naing Win and Minister for Sports Brig-Gen Thura Aye
Myint attened the ceremony and made speeches.
Next, the minister presented sport gear for athletes in ten townships of Mon State and seven
townships of Kayin State and sport equipment worth K 600,000 for footballers of three football
teams of Mon and Kayin States and cash for coaches.
Under the youth football development, football gear worth K 1.4 million for Mon and Kayin State and cash for coaches were provided and sports equipment worth over K 1.6 million for the state and township sports and physical education committees
of Mon and Kayin State were provided.
Later, the 13th Inter State and Division U-15 Football Tournament took place at the Mon State Sports Ground in Mawlamyine at 3 pm. Next, Commander Maj-Gen Thet Naing Win and Chairman of Kayin State Peace and Development Council Brig-Gen Zaw Min presented K
100,000 each and Hometauk Construction Co K 20,000 each to 16 football teams.
In the first match, Mon State beat Taninthayi Division 2-0.

USDA CEC Member supervises development tasks in Kayah State

YANGON, 1 Sept—Minister for Forestry Brig-Gen Thein Aung went to Kokway Timber Extraction Camp in Taunggyi on 29 August and urged officials concerned to make efforts for afforestation and meeting the objectives of the Forest Department.

At the meeting, Deputy General Manager of Shan State (South) Timber Extraction U Sein Win
reported to the minister on tasks for extraction of timber from Shan State (South) and Director of Forest Department U Kyaw Soe Khaing on forest plantation and conservation of reserve forests and seizure of timber smuggling.

Member of the Central Executive Committee of Union Solidarity and Development Association
Minister Brig-Gen Thein Aung and Chairman of Kayah State Peace and Development Council Brig-Gen Win Myint attended a ceremony to conclude transplanting paddy seedlings at Htayngarhlyar Village in Loikaw Township on 30 August.

After the ceremony, they inspected natural fertilizer, paddy strains and natural and chemical insecticides produced by Myanma Agriculture Service and farm equipment produced by Agricultural Mechanization Department displayed at the
ceremony.

During the tour of Kayah State on 30 August, CEC Member of USDA Minister Brig-Gen Thein
Aung, and Brig-Gen Win Myint also attended a ceremony to honour outstanding students who passed the matriculation examination for the 2007-2008 Academic Year. At the ceremony, they presented prizes to two five-distinction winners, four four-distinction winners, six two- distinction winners and 33 one-distinction winners.

Afterwards, Minister Brig-Gen Thein Aung and Chairman of Kayah State PDC Brig-Gen Win
Myint attended a ceremony to open a new school building of No. 5 Basic Education High School in Dawnoku Ward in Loikaw and delivered speeches. They donated K 500,000 and exercise books to the school.

They also attended a ceremony to open a new building of No. 6 Basic Education Post Primary School and handed over exercise books and K 900,000 to the school.
In the afternoon, they went to Kayah State Home for the Aged and donated medicine and cash to 23 aged men and women.
